York University SCS is a unique building with a one of a kind rotational twist that sets the building apart from others on the campus. The project is pursuing and on target for LEED v4 BD+C NC: Gold certification. Notable features include: use of high SRI hardscaping and roofing materials to ensure minimal heat build up on site, reduction in light pollution, use of native and adaptive plants to eliminate the need for irrigation, reduction in potable water by over 40% through use of low-flow and low-flush fixtures, use of materials with high recycled content and that are locally sourced, and incorporation of a thorough ergonomics plans for all employees.
